The Great Depression Ahead, by Harry S. Dent, Jr.

How to Prosper in the Crash Following the Greatest Boom in History!

Harry Dent has been one of the biggest "bulls" around since the 1980's; predicting the longest bull stock market run accurately for the past 20 years or so. I remember having his first book, The Roaring 2000's sitting next to my chair in the living room for years- it was that riveting!
Like a road map to the future...

You could just tell it was based on well-thought out reasoning about demographics, the science that tells you what people will be doing, predictably, at various ages... which then tells you further what the economy as a whole will be doing when the bulk of a population is at any given age.

Ah, we were once young, the baby boomers and myself, and innovative, and energetic, and hard-working... but, alas, now we are on the cusp of old age, and eventually (if we read this book and save ourselves financially), we will retire, en masse!

We gave the world, and the U.S. in particular, a great long run- probably the greatest sustained bull run in the economy of any nation, ever! And now, we will give the world the greatest depression, well, maybe not ever, but bad enough. Sorry about that, but we are only following our demographic destiny.

At any rate, I would get this book if I were you! We are (probably) only getting one more short, bull run in our stock market- Obama's huge, FDR-like stimulus plan will get things going for one last hurrah- but then, in late 2009, after you've cashed out your stocks and bonds, and are sitting on a pile of money market money...

You can open Dent's latest book, and peruse your latest "road map to the future"!

11000-12000 on the DOW, and then GET OUT! Harry Dent SAYS SO!!

I have been following Harry S. Dent for a LONG time- he is amazing, in his long-term demographics based forecasts- and I mean !

He has been saying for DECADES that, in late 2009, GET OUT of the stock market...

Lately, I heard him interviewed on a Podcast.

He stated that "What is occurring now is an "appetizer" , anticipating what will happen in the future...

I hate to say this, but I BELIEVE HIM!!

This has nothing to do with politics, or anything, other than sheer demographics- the determination of people, at certain ages, to do predictable things.

And now, the BABY BOOMERS, the biggest group of humans in history, (in America, at least), are set to retire, and contract their spending DRAMATICALLY.

The results are very predictable:

Hugely reduced spending. (The kids are through college, and mortgage is paid)

Hugely reduced earning. (Retirement pensions)

Hugely reduced American ECONOMY! (Baby boomers crapped out!!)

Harry says that, at least by 2010 GET OUT of the stock market! Go money market.
THEN, after 10 years or so of DEPRESSION, you can invest again in the emerging markets, specifically INDIA.

But, the bottom line is this:

Between 2010 and 2012- GET OUT OF STOCKS!! Put your money in a money market fund, or in a jar in your yard. REALLY!!

Just 10 years will be sufficient to weather the depression...

Then, invest in ....

INDIA.

And other Asian countries.

The US will still be around, and fine, but we will be...second tier, kind of like Euro's are now...

Sorry! We did set the stage for Greco/Latin/Germanic culture to take over and transform the WORLD!

And so, we should take comfort from that: The Asians will take over: but it will be by "copying" us, and taking our culture as their own!

(Just as WE took over the ancient cultures of Greece and Rome! By Copying...)

Feel better?

Harry S. Dent's The Next Great Bubble Boom

I am reading a book by Harry S. Dent called The Next Great Bubble Boom.

This is one great book to read, if you want to plan your future financially! The author wrote a book previously called The Roaring 2000's, and so much of what he predicted in that book has come true. The main premise is that demographics, (statistical data about population groups), determine the future in very predictable patterns.

In 80 year cycles, populations behave in very predictable patterns during the various ages the majority reach at any given point in time:

When most of the population of the USA, for instance, was young (the 1950's), those young "baby boomers" were destined to be the drivers of a huge, innovative BOOM in the US economy. Tons of innovation was the reward to the economy, after investing in the education of these myriads of youngsters throughout the 50's and 60's-

This is how we got the Internet, personal computers, and many other brand new advances in our modern way of life. (Not to mention some really good music in the 1960's!!)

Then, these same "baby boomers", including your favorite old mailman, started spending, and raising families- this resulted in the greatest economic boom in history! We are in it, right now! And, according to Dent, these next two years, into 2010, will be the greatest in history!!

And, after that, we are headed into... a depression! But hey- it's only for 12-14 years or so, so lighten up!

You see, the retirement of all of these baby boomers will end this huge boom...

The next generation of "echo boomers" are so much smaller in numbers, that they will have all they can do to support all of those OLD MAILMEN! (And other professions as well).

What are you supposed to do, financially, I hear you asking the old mailman?

Well, young feller, here is what you do- invest all your IRA money into STOCKS, for the next 2 years or so! Technology, health care, and financials...

THEN, after your money has multiplied faster than your classmates did back during the baby boom when you were young, get ready for early 2010:

The END of the 80 year cycle!

And sell it all!

Buy triple Aaa rated corporate bonds.

Then, hunker down for a dozen years or so, because it won't be pretty.

Things may be better in China, Spain, Ireland, and S. Korea, where demographics are better, so you may want to invest there as well, after the first shocks. But, according to Harry S. Dent's exhaustive demographic trend charts, the next two years are your last chance to maximize your financial holdings!

For what it's worth, I really think he's right.

On a much lighter note,
I just added the photo at the top- it is Springtime, at the end of Hanson Road on French Island! Huzzah!!

It has been one long Winter- let's celebrate! (At least, for the next two years or so....)
