Are stocks at a bottom? And, will the country now be run like the Post Office?

Right now, the Dow is at 7809, at 9:15 Am on November 20, 2008. I think (hope, as well!) that it is at a bottom. Louis Navellier, whose opinion I respect, thinks this could be the bottom, from which the rebound will be "lightning fast"!

The upcoming stimulus, spearheaded by democratic President Obama, should be reminiscent of FDR's "New Deal"...

I expect euphoria, big market bullish gains... and then, when all the money is spent, and the government has "run out of ammunition", I expect:

Harry Dent's long predicted depression.

At least, I HOPE it hasn't already started- H. Dent expects one more bear market rally before the big, long fall, and I do too! But my fingers are also crossed!

And what about the country being "run like the post office"?

I have said during the past election process to anyone who would listen at the Post Office:

"If you want the Country to be run the like the Post Office, vote Democratic!"

At the Post Office, trust me, NO ONE who actually WORKS there (this excludes ipso facto all managers, who don't perform real work), NO ONE thinks that the place is well run. It is run as POORLY as it is possible to run a business, and only survives because of it's monopoly.

A top-down, government bureaucrat outfit like the USPS inevitably gets taken over by the worst element- those bureaucrats who are not civil servants at all, but are after money and power. That is who has come to control the USPS at the highest levels.

For instance- a few days ago, it was announced that all of our "cases"; the large boxes with separations into which we sort our mail before leaving to deliver on the street, would be reduced by 1/3! This would give us much less room, i.e. the mail wouldn't FIT, and we would have to JAM, TWIST, AND BEND it into the remaining cases!

When we asked "WHY?", we were told by the acting postmaster that:

"The cases are needed in fast growing areas of the country, and we will ship them there to save money."

This sounded stupid, but hey, that's normal in bureaucratic governmental monopolies run by the worst element...

Yesterday, we found out from maintenance that they had taken the cases to be sold for SCRAP! $27 apiece. I would have given them twice that to keep my case, and provide faster, more efficient service! Now, I will be slower, they will pay me more overtime, and I will be later for the customers, every day from now on!

And, the Postmaster General, Jack Potter, is now being investigated for corruption, taking kickbacks...

Is this how we want our entire COUNTRY to be run?? Well, sadly, I feel that under democratic control, it inevitably will be.

Oh, the DOW is NOW, 1/2 hour later, at 7854! COOL!
