I think you will all like the Pizza Pizzazz post just before this one! Steve Dahl has been playing it on his podcast for a few days now- I think it is right up there with "most annoying- stuck-in-your- head" types of songs like:

Stayin' alive!
My baby does the Hanky Panky!
The morning sun is rising like a RED RUBBER BALL!

All of these songs can get stuck in your head really bad.... but the Pizza Pizzazz song may be the worst/best of them all!!

We have Steve Dahl, Chicago radio/podcaster extraordinaire to thank for this "revelation". Bittersweet as it is, this is what he is really, really good at: discovering laughably guilty pleasures, that we can enjoy "on the move", via our radios (in the past), and now, via our ipods. He talks for about 2 hours a day, mainly about... NOTHING! His family, his staff, his professional,Chicago based personality contacts...

Strangely, it is all HUGELY entertaining!

This is because Steve is, basically, the funniest guy around!

Ironically, his "doppelganger", in a weird way, is Rush Limbaugh!!

Steve is Rush's quintessential "Long-haired, maggot-infested, dope smoking, FM type".

But, unlike most of the breed (read: Howard Stern- who based his whole persona and schtick on the Stever from early listening when Steve Dahl was in Detroit), Steve is GENUINELY, and CONSISTENTLY VERY, VERY FUNNY!!

But, and Steve Dahl will be upset with me here:

SO IS RUSH LIMBAUGH!!

I kind of think of Steve as the FM Rush! More profane, liberal, and urban. (an FM type!)

Rush is the quintessential AM TYPE!!!
(Short-haired, conservative, midwestern family values small town type)

Both have long-standing weight problems. Both are very, very funny. Both have the ability to transfix you, when they talk about personal things, almost in a hypnotic, fascinating way...
Great storytellers, basically.

I listen to Rush, and when a commercial comes on, I switch to Steve (via my ipod which instantly channels his podcast through my speakers, just where he left off!)

To me, this is the best of both worlds! My urban, Chicago suburban boyhood meets up with my middle-aged rural reality!

Both are fascinating- both are funny- but, and this is important:

RUSH IS RIGHT!!

I love Steve! I really enjoy listening to him, and hope it continues for a long time!
But, Rush is really important! What he says resonates, and really means a lot to us in our modern "polis". What he says is NOT just entertainment, although it is that as well.

Steve, I'm sorry, but you are JUST entertainment! And, that's not bad, it's just what it is.

And, for what it's worth, Brendan and Pete are just a hoot! Pete, in particular: sad, yet oh-so-realistic!! That is what the city breeds!!
